Past: The artifact I chose from my past was my third-degree blackbelt. I chose this from my past because it symbolized that I was finally able to lead the class in stretches and warm-ups after 10 years of following someone else's lead. It also allowed me to help the lower belts with their forms and instruct them. Since I was so young when I became a first-degree blackbelt I couldn't really lead the others but when I received my third-degree I was able to finally step up and help the lower belts and the younger children around the gym either on their stances and improving them or teaching them part of their forms. I liked that I was someone who people looked up to because when I was a lower belt or one of the younger students I knew I wanted to become a higher belt and be someone people would look up to and be able to teach at the gym. I worked hard to earn my blackbelt and be able to be a leader and teacher at the gym and I'm prepared to work harder to become a business teacher and have my own classroom one day.
Present: Joining the Education LLC has made an impact for me because it reassured me that I made the right decision in choosing Bloomsburg University and choosing my major, business education. Being in the LLC made me realize that I definitely want to be a teacher and have my own classroom one day. Also a moment that reassured me that I wanted to be a teacher was when I was babysitting my 4th grade neighbor at the time and I was helping him with his homework. As I was helping him and walking him through the steps of learning division and then letting him practicing the problems and getting them correct, I realized that I helped him understand what he was learning. In that moment I knew I wanted to work with children and students and be able to help the actually understand what they are learning.
Future: The moment I chose for my future is when I have my own classroom and students. I want to be able to teach multiple business classes to high school students. I want my classroom to be a comfortable safe environment for students to be able to learn easily. I also want to push them to do their best in school. Since they are the high school level I would hope to have an influence on their future like how my high school teachers did for me. Also I would hope my students would be comfortable coming to me with any problems they have either inside or outside of the classroom.
